7 Reasons Why I Love My Apple Watch

I’ve been a big fan of the Apple Watch for a long time. I’ve used a Series 1, then upgraded to Series 4. Now after time has passed, I’m currently using the Series 6. After enough experience with the product line, I can say it’s been great for helping me be more productive.
I first put on my Apple Watch back in 2015, and haven’t wanted to take it off ever since. At first, I saw it as a cool gadget. However, over time, I’ve come to appreciate it as much as my iPhone — and here’s why you might, too.
1. It Motivates Me to Move

One of the most convenient features of the Apple Watch is its ability to track when you move, exercise, or even stand. Each of these appears on its own ring, and your goal for the day is to “close your rings.”
The Move ring is a bit different. Your Move goal is personal to you and your fitness level. Every week, the Apple Watch buzzes to let you know how well you did last week. After that, Move explains how your goal for this week might look like if you want to increase it. That way, you can both meet and improve your exercise goals as time passes.
Being able to view how much energy you’ve expended is both rewarding and motivating. When I meet my Move goals by lunchtime, I feel great about hitting the gym hard. However, if all I did was playing video games all day, the Move ring serves as a reminder to go outside and move around a bit.
The Apple Watch also notifies you when you’re on the verge of closing your Move ring, telling you how long of a walk you should take to do so. If you remain seated for around 50 minutes, your watch notifies you to stand and move around a bit. You might already be mindful enough to get up and move regularly, but I’m not.
2. Everything is on Your Wrist
I’m a big fan of Apple’s Infographic watch face because it displays a lot of information. At one glance, I can check the following:
Sales from Shopify app for giftopiia.com, an e-commerce startup that basically aims to make gifting easy
- My rings
- My tasks
- My upcoming appointments
- Hear the latest podcasts
The below advert is a favorite of mine that tells it all!
3. Never Miss Important Notifications
It’s amazing how much noise we put up with on our phones. If you just move that noise to your wrist, you quickly realize how much of it you can filter out. By keeping only the most important notifications on your wrist, you can deal with essential matters first, and everything else second on your phone.
I also forward all calls to my Apple Watch, so I never miss one, even if I’m in a different room than my iPhone. You can prioritize notifications from your business email account, Basecamp, Reminders, Messages, news alerts. This can be applied to entertainment as well by silencing those from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, personal email accounts.
You can still see your other notifications, but you could browse them at your leisure when you have time to pick up your phone.
4. Something For Everyone

The good news is the Apple Watch is an objectively excellent wearable gadget. There’s nothing that comes close to it in terms of user experience along with activity and workout tracking. It can also save your life with its heart rate monitoring and fall detection.
I reviewed the first-generation Apple Watch and the Series 2 a few years later, so I’ve seen firsthand how Apple has evolved within both the hardware and software sides into a highly polished product. In my opinion, there’s never been a better time to jump on the Apple Watch train.
5. Vibing With Music From My Wrist
Useful for when there’s a desire to listen to music while working out, the Apple Watch can be paired with Bluetooth headphones. This function means you can shake and move about without worrying about your iPhone in your pocket. From switching tracks to adjusting volume, everything can be done through the watch on your wrist.
6. Apple Watch Makes Siri Even Better

The best thing about Siri is that it’s now a real technology. Unfortunately, it’s not a complete one until you have an easier way to interact with it than having to talk to a phone which is awkward in public. However, the whole idea of having Siri on the Apple Watch makes it much easier and gives Siri the much-needed simplistic interface.
7. Oh, Yeah, It Also Tells Time

People often see a nice watch as a luxury item, but it doesn’t have to be. At its current price point, the aluminum, entry-level Apple Watch straddles the line. It’s expensive, but for a watch, it’s not that expensive. Fortunately, it’s also pretty good as watches go. At this time of writing, the latest Series 5 starts at $399 for the 40mm or $429 for the 44mm in aluminum. You can also save some money if you pick up a Series 4 second-hand, or a brand new Series 3 directly from Apple (starting at $199).
I’ve always worn watches, but the Apple Watch is by far the most comfortable. I chose the Series 4 Nike+ Sport Loop variant, purely because I wanted a black reflective band. It’s so comfortable, I forget I’m wearing it minutes after I put it on. I can’t necessarily say the same for the silicon band, though.
What the Apple Watch Can Do in a Glance:
Conclusion
The Apple Watch is much more than just a nice gadget. Want to gain more insight into your health? The Apple Watch will measure your heart rate and breathing, among others. If you want, you can even receive a warning when your heart rate’s too high. Apple even recently added a tracking functionality for the oxygen level in your blood.
The Apple Watch is also really convenient when you just want to exercise more. You can start both indoor and outdoor workouts and set daily exercise goals. The Health app will keep track of all your statistics so you can see if you’re making progress.
Your Apple Watch sometimes makes everyday things a little easier as well. Think of a timer, receiving notifications on your Watch, and navigation. It can also serve as a remote for all your home’s smart products. And last but not least: the Apple Watch looks great on your wrist as well!
